Dr. William Lydiatt wanted a career where he could combine his interest in science with the desire to work closely with people. He enjoys his career as a provider at the Methodist Head and Neck Oncology Clinic because of the opportunity it gives him to help people at a critical moment in their lives.
As a fellowship-trained head and neck surgical oncologist, Dr.Lydiatt specializes in the surgical treatment of thyroid and parathyroid disease, salivary gland tumors and cancers of the mouth.
"It is an honor to be able to care for people with cancers of the head and neck," said Dr. Lydiatt. "I want each patient to know that the decision is theirs as to what treatment they will receive, but that I will always tell them what I think is best for them."
He is also very interested in how providers can decrease the rate of depression and improve quality of life for patients undergoing treatment for head and neck cancers.
Dr. Lydiatt has participated on various boards of directors over the past decade, including Nebraska Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Fontenelle Nature Association, Cancer Survivor’s Day, and UNMC Alumni Association. He is married with three children and enjoys hiking and walking with his dogs.
