Gregory Stanislav

About the Author:

General surgeon and wound care physician Dr. Gregory Stanislav is the medical director of the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital Advanced Wound Center.

He has long been fascinated by science and human anatomy, and he credits his early interest in medicine to his uncle, a family physician, and his mother, a nurse.

Dr. Stanislav is motivated by “the ability to help someone who has a very well-defined problem,” and he believes quality care is dependent on patient involvement.

“When you’ve got a partnership, it’s more like a working team,” Dr. Stanislav said. “Nobody is in charge. You’re both trying to work toward the same end.”

He’s inspired daily by the caring, talented and knowledgeable people he’s surrounded by at Methodist, and he’s proud of the healing outcomes they’ve achieved together. He wants all his patients to know: “You’re never a number. You’re not just another wound.”

Dr. Stanislav graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed his surgical residency at Creighton University. He completed a one-year surgical oncology fellowship at The University of Chicago and received surgical endocrinology training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

He enjoys spending time with his family, walking his dog and watching movies. He has a deep appreciation for music and enjoys attending the Omaha Symphony.
