About the Author:

Dr. Brent Tierney, a gynecologic oncologist at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center since 2014, is driven by the interactions he has with patients.

“Patients come in at a very delicate time,” he said. “To be able to give them comfort and empathy – and the gratitude that they give me – that makes it worth it every day.”

An Omaha native, Dr. Tierney completed medical school and residency at Creighton University. He completed a fellowship at The Ohio State University Medical Center, then joined the Methodist team.

Methodist’s reputation for gynecologic oncology research, collaboration between physicians and residents, and outstanding care made returning to Omaha an easy decision for Dr. Tierney. He believes a team effort leads to successful outcomes.

“When I do get to tell a patient that there’s no evidence of cancer, just the relief that they have, every single time it’s just the greatest feeling,” he said.

Outside of work, Dr. Tierney enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. “Family is very, very important to me,” he said.
