Karen Joyce, MD

Karen Joyce

About the Author:

Like many of her colleagues, Dr. Karen Joyce became interested in medicine at an early age. Her spark came when she had her appendix removed at age 11.

“I was intensely curious throughout the whole process,” she said.

Her surgeon’s kindness nurtured a seed that kept growing with the help of numerous mentors during her medical training.

Now an internist at Methodist Physicians Clinic Cass Street, Dr. Joyce strives to work cooperatively with patients to achieve their health goals.

“Listening and understanding patients’ stories is the first step in setting and accomplishing goals with them,” she said. “I really enjoy the connections I can make with patients.”

Dr. Joyce earned her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine internship and residency at Loyola University Medical Center. She earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Notre Dame.

She previously practiced at Think Whole Person Healthcare in Omaha, Physicians of Internal Medicine in Omaha and Internal Medicine Associates in Omaha. She was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force with the rank of major after four years of active-duty service.

Outside of the office, Dr. Joyce enjoys running, cross-country skiing, hiking, reading and cooking. She’s also an animal lover; she has two dogs and two cats.
