About the Author:

Perhaps her pediatrician knew before anyone else that Dr. Traci Jurrens would grow up to be a doctor.

“Each year, at my annual check-up, my pediatrician would ask what I wanted to be when I grew up. Every year, I would respond the same – that I wanted to be a doctor,” said Dr. Jurrens. “Looking back, I think it was my love for science with its application to people that made medicine attractive.”

She credits her passion for evidence-based medicine in choosing her specialty – cardiology. After both graduating medical school and completing her residency at Creighton University School of Medicine, she received a year of echocardiography training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, exercising, spending time with friends and family and playing tennis with her kids (she played tennis at Creighton).

Dr. Traci Jurrens is a board-certified internal medicine and cardiovascular disease specialist at Methodist Physicians Clinic
